This drive includes parts of a scenic loop into the hinterland of the Gold Coast. From the east, the route begins in Nerang and follows part of the local Tourist Drive 8 towards Tamborine Mountain and Canungra. Tamborine Mountain is a pretty holiday community with cafés, gift shops and a real village atmosphere. There are well defined rainforest walks for a hinterland experience, and a variety of good food and wines.
The first stop is Beechmont, enjoy the green pastures which surround this town, and learn about the close- knit community which thrives on self-sufficiency run by creative minds which have been there for generations. Don’t forget to finish your trip by visiting Lamington National Park, known for it’s grand nature and beautiful photo opportunities for those who take an interest in photography.
Then Mosy on to Canungra, a town rich with historical culture. Pack a picnic and take some R&R time relaxing by the Canungra creek which is filled with Australian wildlife such as the Platypus. Spend the afternoon at one of the towns boutique wine stores, or enjoy a classic pub dinner at the family-friendly hotels.
Next enjoy the enchanting Tamborine Mountains. Taste your way through the mountain with a variety of cheeses, chocolates, fudge and so much more. Once you have had enough to eat, you can then visit the many wine vineyards, breweries & distilleries across Tamborine, or if wine isn’t your cup of tea, visit the boutique cafes which litter the area. Antique stores and handmade jewelers are hidden in every corner with new and old treasures to be found. Once you have had enough retail therapy, grab some fresh air by taking a walk through the national park. Here you can see waterfalls, beautiful natural wonders and glow worm caves.
Round out the night with some delicious local cuisine before spending the night in a quiet relaxing bed and breakfast on the mountain.
