Australia’s newest regional musical festival is almost here! Aussie favourites Angus & Julia Stone, Brisbane-based Ball Park Music, Baby Rainbow from Byron Bay and Hatchie are leading the first ever Long Sunset lineup at Elysian Fields in the heart of Canungra. You can expect incredible live performances, a vast selection of local food and art, and a great day out for the whole family as the sun slowly sets and brings The Long Sunset to life. Escape in the Scenic Rim is a brand new nature and adventure festival, running from 29 April to 29 May. Set in some of the most spectacular natural surrounds in the world, Escape in the Scenic Rim will feature incredible natural beauty, diverse landscapes, abundant wildlife and incredible local produce with events to raise your heart rate or help you sit back and feel one with nature again. In March and May they’re inviting you to come and experience country life in the Scenic Rim.
Farm Gate Trail want you to learn where your food comes from, meet the farmers, shop local and fill your empty esky with their delicious local produce.
Stay tuned for details on who’s participating, and a map and itineraries to help plan your road trip! Don’t forget, the Farm Gate Trail covers a range of areas in the Scenic Rim, with some stops over an hour apart, so they suggest you plan ahead and visit three to five stops!
There’s nothing better than running through fields full of sunflowers and it doesn’t get better than the 300,000 of them at the Kalbar Sunflower Festival! On the outskirts of the historic township of Kalbar, immerse yourself in the bright yellow beauties and enjoy a day of entertainment, local food and beverages and special experiences like yoga in the fields.
If you don’t know the story, this is a festival grown out of hardship. After going through the longest drought of their life, the Jenners couldn’t grow their main crop so instead planted a bunch of sunflower seeds. Everyone’s favourite regional food festival is back! The 11th Scenic Rim Eat Local Week will officially kick off from 25 June to 3 July, with an incredible line-up of long lunches, incredible dinners, farm gates, workshops and more, including the family-fun Winter Harvest Festival on 2 July. But the fun doesn’t stop there — there’ll be a full line-up of delicious entrée events in June to tantilise your tastebuds. They’re the gentle giants of the horse world and are recognised in Australia as the breed that built the nation. Over the weekend of June 12 and 13, come out to the colourful country town of Boonah and celebrate the best Clydesdale show in the Southern Hemisphere at the Scenic Rim Clydesdale Spectacular! See the champions of the breed judged, soak up some Scottish heritage, witness the skilled trades of harness making, whip plaiting and more, watch the Queensland Whip Cracking Champions, and check out working dog displays, bush poetry, wood chopping and so much more. The EmpowHER Hiking Program offers affordable guided hikes from February to June to help women and girls explore the Scenic Rim, build their fitness and gain confidence in the outdoors. The Evergreen Festival returns in 2022 on Tamborine Mountain to enjoy local fare, fine craftsmanship and local produce in a festival atmosphere. Their Annual Winter Market is a picture-perfect site, with the tree-lined precinct offering lighting installations and shopping at curated festooned market stalls featuring everything from edible treats to handmade ornaments, mulled wine, and so much more. There’s a small pocket of the Scenic Rim at the foothills of the World Heritage Listed Lamington National Park fast becoming a trail running mecca and it’s set to come alive for the Inaugural Lost World Trail Festival! The views from these trails will stop the most experience runner in their tracks. There are options for everyone from the seasoned trail runner to the beginner, so come and get amongst the action.
