    Australia’s Green Cauldron

The Scenic Rim holds an important place in Australia’s Green Cauldron. The Green Cauldron stretches from Byron Bay to the Gold Coast and west to the Scenic Rim and the Great Dividing Range.

This expanse of distinctive Australian landscape features subtropical rainforest and provides a window into Australia’s prehistoric past. The Green Cauldron is the name given to an area which features an ancient volcanic landscape, an area that was formed more than 20 million years ago. Botanists, geologists and ecologists praise this area for its biodiversity, it is home to more than 200 rare and endangered plant and animal species.

The Green Cauldron is one of the Scenic Rim’s links with its earliest beginnings. For more information on The Green Cauldron and Australia’s National Landscapes, click here.
