What’s on in August – upcoming events

August brings a varied calendar of events to the Scenic Rim. There’s something for everyone – adventurers, music-lovers and country enthusiasts.

Lamington Eco Challenge – August 5 & 6
Lamington Eco Challenge

Join this trail running event through the spectacular, but gruelling, Lamington National Park.
Competitors will be tested on the 42km, 21km and 8.5km trails.
The trails go along 4WD tracks, through paddocks, over cattle grids, and through creeks.

Schools Regatta – Saturdays during August
The Scenic Rim’s Wyaralong Dam is home to an Olympic standard rowing course and regularly hosts school and club competitions.
Each Saturday during August the dam will host BSRA Regattas, between GPS girls’ schools.

John Wiliamson Live at Ramada Resort Kooralbyn – August 18

Aussie musician, John Williamson, will perform live at the Ramada Resort in the Kooralbyn Valley.
This relaxed event is part of the resort’s Balcony Series. Williamson has an extensive catalogue of hits, including Rip Rip Woodchip, True Blue and Raining on the Rock.
Tickets start from $29 and there’s some great dinner, show and accommodation packages on offer.
Ramada Resort is located on a beautiful rural property and boasts an award-winning golf course, wellness and health spa and equestrian and polo fields.

True Grit – August 19 & 20
Are you up for this military-style obstacle challenge on Tamborine Mountain?
The hard-core course stretches over 12km and features 30 obstacles.

Boonah Freedom Climb – August 19

The Boonah Freedom Climb returns for the third year.
The Freedom Challenge is a movement of passionate people, dedicated to freeing oppressed and enslaved women and children around the world. They do this by participating in physical challenges which test limits and raise awareness and much-needed funds to combat social injustices.
The Boonah Freedom Climb takes place on August 19 at Mt Edwards in the Moogerah Peaks National Park.
It’s organised by local women Tracey Rieck and Vicki Hinrichsen and encourages supporters to test themselves and climb Mt Edwards.
