October is another busy month in the Scenic Rim. Here’s a wrap-up of some of the awesome activities and events on offer in the Scenic Rim this month. Put them in your calendar!
Peter Senior, Wayne Grady and Jeff Thomson will be competing in the Ramada Resort Pro-Am.
It’s part of the Ladbrokes PGA Pro-Am Series and will be a mixed golf competition between professionals, celebrities, and amateurs. They will take on the challenge of the 18-hole championship course, with a $25,000 pro purse, plenty of prizes and a chance to win a golf cart.
You know how it works. Collectors and enthusiasts gather to swap tales and collectibles. The difference here is you’ll find a comprehensive collection of military vehicles. This swap meet is organised by the Military Jeep Club of Queensland. This is the 42nd annual Swap Meet & Military Vehicle Show and this year’s event will feature a vintage plane flyover on Saturday the 14th. It all happens at the Beaudesert Showgrounds. Camping is available.
The Craft Extravaganza Christmas Fair will showcase the hand-made craft from 50 local crafters, all of it available to buy at reasonable prices. The fair will have a Christmas theme, so it’s a great chance to get the jump on your festive shopping. Refuel at the Crafty Café and know that your shopping will be supporting the Tamborine Mountain Rural Fire brigade and other local charities.
Rathdowney is set for yet another great rodeo with a line of contestants eager to display their talents in the arena. See the skilled competitors bareback riding, barrel racing, roping and steer wrestling. Browse the market stalls and food trucks and the kids will love the activities on offer.
Lake Moogerah is the venue for the second round of the Ski Racing Queensland event. Fun is the name of the game and there’s plenty of come and try events, as well as mixed up 2 races, pursuit races and a marathon.
Put this one in your diary – the Kalbar Swap Meet is the place you can swap and trade your most treasured possessions. It may be a small town, but the meet is huge, taking up most of the Kalbar Showgrounds.
You’ll find cars, trucks, bikes, old engines, tractors, market stalls and bric-a-brac. The car show presentation is from 10am.
Keep your eyes peeled around Kalbar for the incredible hay sculptures that are starting to emerge. It’s the precursor to the popular Kalbar Country Day. Head down to Kalbar’s main drag for market stalls, craft, art, food and live entertainment.
It’s a great chance to start your festive shopping and source some unique gifts for friends and family.
Canungra Country Fair has something for everyone, including rides, food trucks, market stalls, live music and a petting zoo.
Enjoy the festival atmosphere and if you’re hungry try your luck in the Outpost Pie eating competition.
Tommerup’s Dairy Farm in the Lost World is partnering with Wild Canary Botanical Restaurant to present a beautiful long-table lunch on the farm.
Chef Glen Barratt will prepare an amazing feast, featuring the Tommerup family’s own heritage-breed pork, pasture-raised veal and a selection of other fresh Scenic Rim produce.
Take a farm tour, meet the Tommerup family and their menagerie of cows, pigs, chooks and sheep. Before you head home stock up on local produce at the Farm Larder.
If you’d like to stay the night, book into one of the restored farm cottages, or a luxury tent, supplied by Glamping Days Hire Co.
Bookings are essential.
