Junior adventure at TreeTop Challenge

Adventure-loving children will love the Scenic Rim’s newest attraction – Australia’s largest junior adventure park.
It’s the latest offering from award-winning operators, TreeTop Challenge, at Tamborine Mountain.

The Taylor family is behind the attraction and says their latest initiative is a first for Queensland and is Australia’s largest junior adventure park.

“Until now there hasn’t been a purpose-designed adventure park for young children in Queensland,” explains GM David Taylor.

Queensland Tourism Industry Development Minister Kate Jones opened the new attraction at the start of August and says the junior course will provide hours of fun for families and will encourage children to be active.

“This park is a Queensland first and providing new tourism and adventure experiences is key to growing our state’s tourism industry,” she says.

The regular Treetop courses have a height marker, which Mr Taylor jokes is also known as the ‘line of tears’ because that’s the reaction young participants have when told they’re not tall enough to have a go.

But not anymore.

The new junior course is perfect for children aged three to seven and features 50 challenges, starting at ground level and soaring up to eight metres. The course can completed over two hours. Make a weekend of it and stay on site at Thunderbird Park, where the adventure course is based.

The designs incorporates parents and carers who are able to interact with their children from the ground during some of the lower levels.

“It’s a great opportunity for kids to experience nature while extending themselves within our Adventure Park in the trees,” Mr Taylor says.

“We understand children can be wary of heights, so they can complete a lower level course and build their confidence, ready for greater adventure in our higher courses.

“We operate to the highest safety standards and the children are continuously attached to overhead guide wires from their harness and are only disconnected when they are safely on the ground.”

The Junior TreeTop Challenge is open on weekends, during school holidays and at other times by appointment.
