Head to the Scenic Rim’s beautiful Lake Moogerah for an Easter experience like no other at the 2019 Moogerah Passion Play
The play will be performed on 13, 14, 19 and 20 before an open-air auditorium capable of holding 2000 people on the shores of the lake.
The show is a dramatic account of the Passion of Jesus Christ (His life, death and resurrection).
The Moogerah Passion Play uses up to 100 actors, technicians, backstage and other helpers. It is a non-denominational event, often involving people from up to 11 denominations each year.
When does the performance start and end?
From 5pm until approximately 8pm, with a 20-30 minute interval.

What is the admission charge?
While admission is free, the Moogerah Passion Play relies on donations. There are donation boxes located in the entrance complex.
Is there plenty of parking?
What will I bring?
There is a grassy open-air auditorium, so a rug or a chair, plus a cardigan/jumper. Water is also advisable, however water is available for purchase. They also advise bringing an umbrella in the unlikely event that it rains.
May I bring a hamper?
Can I purchase food?
Yes. Catering facilities open at 4pm. Soup, hamburgers, sausages, soft drinks, tea, coffee, slices and other assorted goodies are available for purchase for reasonable prices.
Is there plenty of space?
The open-air auditorium seats more than 2000 people. Guests are encouraged to arrive early for the Good Friday performance, because it is particularly popular.
Is the Moogerah Passion Play affiliated with any particular church?
No. They are autonomous and have had 11 different denominations in their cast.
How does the Moogerah Passion Play pay for the production?
They rely on donations, the food stalls and commercial sponsorships.
What happens if it rains?
Since 1993, Moogerah Passion Play organisers have not cancelled a performance through rain. Bear in mind that while Brisbane and even Boonah may be wet, it will in all likelihood be dry at Lake Moogerah. If in doubt, phone 0400 844 307.
How far is it?
From the Brisbane CBD it is 100km, or about 80 minutes.
How do I get there?
From Brisbane, the shortest way is via the Cunningham Highway. Nearing Aratula you will see road signs pointing to Lake Moogerah. Follow any one of them. Near the Lake is a Y-junction – take the left hand fork. They are next to the Lake Moogerah Caravan Park. The play is well sign-posted.
