The Scenic Rim will host the Queen’s Baton Relay on 1 April 2018 (Easter Sunday). The eyes of the Commonwealth will be on Tamborine Mountain as the venue for the final community relay leg before the Baton arrives on the Gold Coast on the final days of its journey to Gold Coast 2018 Commonwealth Games Opening Ceremony on 4 April 2018.

The Queen’s Baton Relay
The Queen’s Baton Relay will commence at 12 noon with a welcome ceremony at Rotary Park Lookout before baton bearers proceed down Main Western Road onto Main Street concluding at 1pm with an official ‘Community Stop’ – Scenic Rim Welcomes the World on Main Street across from the Tamborine Police Station.
Scenic Rim Baton Relay Event
The Scenic Rim Baton relay will run from 2.10pm just after the Queens Baton Relay on Main Street and involve children from the 30 schools, Guide and Scouts groups, Youth Groups and Sports Groups in the Scenic Rim region. The children will run in groups of three, two holding country flags and the other carrying our ‘black bean’ baton. The baton will be passed from baton runner to baton runner, and the country flags will be returned to the main stage on Geissmann Oval at 3pm for an official ceremony where they will be placed into a stand that will display all 71 flags
Tamborine Mountain Shared Fire Community Celebration
Tamborine Mountain Shared Fire Community Celebration will run from 1:30pm to 7pm on Geissmann Oval and will include fun sports activities for children and families presented by Kelly Sports, food trucks, a cabaret stage, roving performances, community storytelling around artisan fire pits, artisan markets and an evening performance telling a Tamborine Mountain story featuring traditional welcome, Tamborine Mountain Peoples Orchestra, poetry, dance, theatre and fire ceremony and performance
