1. Beaudesert Australia Day Races

They’re off and racing at Beaudesert for the very popular, annual Australia Day Race meet. Relax trackside with your friends and enjoy the chilled country racing vibe.

2. Join the crew at Flinders Peak Winery for their Australia Day Harvest.

Stay two nights in a family cabin, pick fruit from the vines, stop in at the cellar door and recuperate with all you can eat wood fired pizza, cool breezes and stunning mountain views. Soak it all up with a glass of chilled local white.

3. Fun is on tap at the Bearded Dragon Hotel Tamborine this Australia Day.

The boys from Lock n Load, a high-energy rockabilly band, will have you jumping on the 26th. Cold beer, bbq and good times. Make sure you book a table. Did we mention there’s a children’s playground? Quick, do it.

4. Pitch your tent lakeside.

Spend a sedate weekend, camping on the banks of Lake Moogerah or Lake Maroon. Explore the local walking trails, go for a paddle, or chill out and read a book. 6. Eat local on Tamborine Mountain.

The rich, red alluvial soil sustains a bounty of glorious fresh food on the mountain. You can find it on the menu at local cafes like the Vintage Pickle ; stock up at a roadside stall; or visit the Green Shed Markets on Sunday morning for a selection of just-picked organic produce.

9. Drop a line.

There’s some fantastic fishing to be had in the region. Lakes Moogerah and Maroon are stocked with bass. Launch your boat, or try your luck from the shore.
