The studio’s doors opened in February 2013 with the purpose of being a base for Artist In Residence, Tamlyn Geiger, to work on her artistic ventures.
The Red Door Studio is in an ideal position just around the corner of the Canungra Centre and Information Centre. The original 100 year old front of the building is only small but has lovely natural light and is quite comfortable.
With assistance from her number one fans (a.k.a. husband, son and son in-law and daughters), the building was soon transformed into a funky little display area with a massive front window and a picture frame hanging system installed to make hanging the variety of her different-sized works easier.
To keep the displays fresh and interesting the decision was made to open the door to local artists to share the space. The studio has had a vast range of displays from established artists and those just starting out, with artwork varying from sculpture and contemporary to fine arts.
