Melbourne International Comedy Festival Roadshow

See some of the best acts from this year’s Melbourne International Comedy Festival live in Boonah. Every year Festival organisers choose a selection of the best acts to go on the road. It’s a hilarious night of entertainment but be warned, the language and subject matter can be ‘colourful’.
Garterbelts & Gasoline Festival
Tamborine Mountain- May 4 to 7, 2012
A popular rockabilly and Kustom car show, featuring live entertainment, art, a rockabilly ball, dance workshops, movies and a hot rod carnival.

Drumley Walk & Arts Dinner
The Centre Beaudesert- May 4 & 5, 2012
This event begins on Friday at The Centre Beaudesert and features a two-course dinner prepared by Jymbilung House. Proceeds from the dinner go to aid indigenous community projects in the region and the work of the Yugambeh Museum.
The Drumley Walk is a short Aboriginal Cultural Walk for reconciliation and leaves from The Centre at 9am on May 5.

Murri Arts
The Centre Beaudesert- May 4-5, 2012
Murri Arts kicks off the Studios of the Scenic Rim festival for 2012, and celebrates the art and culture of the Mununjali people of the Scenic Rim.
The two-day event features the Jingu Wahlu Photo Exhibition, an Elders Morning tea, Tukka Celebrity Chef demonstrations, and The Rim Community Arts Project.

Studios of the Scenic Rim – Arts in the Olives

The Scenic Rim arts and gourmet food communities converge on the picturesque Worendo Olive Grove this Sunday for Arts in the Olives – an art and food festival in the Lost World Valley.
It’s the latest instalment in the month-long Studios of the Scenic Rim event, which celebrates the talented artists who live in the region. Arts in the Olives features art workshops, musical performances, free activities for the kids and gourmet food and wine stalls.

Caldera in the Raw
The Centre Beaudesert- May 19 to June 30, 2012
Andra Temple, a conservation artist has created new paintings and drawings in a range of medium, showcasing the unique fauna and flora from the Scenic Rim area, with a special emphasis on wildlife areas that may be cleared for a coal seam gas pipeline.
Studios of the Scenic Rim – Tamborine Mountain

The Tamborine arts community throws open the doors to their studios this weekend for the Studios of the Scenic Rim event.
The month-long event gives visitors a rare insight into the creative process by inviting them into the workspaces of professional artists.
Participating artists include sculptor Christopher Trotter, textile artist Bec Andersen, bookbinder Lorraine Brown, Japanese painter Maki Horanai and sculptor Kate French. Studios of the Scenic Rim runs every weekend until June 4 and entry to studios is free.

Boonah Butter Factory- May 26 & 27, 2012
The historic Boonah Butter Factory will host Studios of the Scenic Rim this weekend.
Boonah-based artists, Felicity Smith, Catherine Anderson and Rachael Brook will be on hand to explain to visitors how they create their artwork.
Nearby at Kalbar a group of developing artists will exhibit their art at the 103-year-old, Heritage-listed Wiss Emporium.

A World Apart – discover the hidden tastes of Mt Barney

This food and wine festival celebrates its 6th year and draws together the diverse variety of regional food and wine available in the Mt Barney region.
Five unique country properties are involved in this event and over the weekend will offer wine tastings, Italian cooking classes, bushtucker tours and tastings, a gourmet bushtucker BBQ, Alpaca introductions and a traditional Scottish Highland morning tea.

Studios of the Scenic Rim – Canungra & Beechmont
Various locations- June 2 & 3, 2012
Studios of the Scenic Rim moves to Canungra and Beechmont this weekend for the final instalment in the month-long open studios event, which gives visitors a rare insight into the creative process.
Meet local painters, fibre artists, potters and pets at the Wallaby Ridge Retreat Artists’ Studio in Canungra and see how they create their art. Book in for watercolour and drawing lessons, stay for afternoon tea or stay overnight.
At Binna Burra Mountain Lodge, artists Sharon Louise and Therese Flynn-Clarke will be in residence all weekend. Sharon Louise will offer two free photography workshops, while Therese will lead workshops in basket weaving.
