The Scenic Rim is steeped in heritage and significance, which is reflected in the region’s natural history, traditional cultures and creative community. The landscape reveals a deep connection to Country for the Mununjali, Ugarapul and Wangerriburra communities who are the traditional custodians of the area, while our rural heritage can be traced back to farming settlements in the 1800s.

The Scenic Rim was named by adventurer, naturalist and tourism pioneer Arthur Groom in the mid-1900s to describe the chain of mountains around the valleys.
