My Black Heart
March 2 to April 24 2010, The Centre, Brisbane St, Beaudesert

This collaboration by Cal MacKinnon, Sally MacKinnon and Robyn Stewart features photographs, poetry and fibre works which describe the journey of these three women into family and place and of coming home to simplicity, love and complexity.
This exhibition expresses our intention to more deeply and openly connect with the ancient land and its traditional custodians in this Yugambeh language region.

Musical Morning – The Ritzy Sisters
March 5 2010, The Centre, Brisbane St, Beaudesert

Join Scenic Rim locals Margy Row and Susannah Lathlean for this morning of fabulous music from the 1940s. Together they are The Ritzy Sisters and they will entertain with song and laughter.

Classic vibes with Nick Parnell

Boonah Girl Guides Association Biennial Quilt Show
March 11-14 2010, Boonah & District Cultural Centre, High St, Boonah

This is a much-anticipated event in the Scenic Rim. Quilters from near and far gather to display their intricate and beautifully coloured works of art.
The precision and detail involved in the quilts is astounding and will impress. More than 100 hand-made quilts will be displayed during the show, which is celebrating the centenary of the Girl Guides movement.
Light refreshments are on sale throughout the day and a number of stalls selling craft and art items will also operate.
Entry is $5 and doors are open from 10am to 3pm each day.

Boonah Rodeo
March 13 2010, Boonah Showgrounds, Macquarie St, Boonah

You’ll remember your night at the Boonah Rodeo for months to come. Action-packed, wholesome country fun is served up in generous portions. Take in the steer wrangling and bull riding in the main arena, or perhaps you’d rather kick back and listen to the live entertainment over a few drinks and a hearty meal.
Action starts at 6.30pm.

Toni Childs in Concert

Toni Childs has sold millions of albums worldwide and has been nominated for three Grammys. She will treat the Boonah audience to a mix of her classic roots, rock, folk and gospel music. Hear Toni and her signature husky vocals at the Cultural Centre.

Joseph and the Amazing Technicolour Dreamcoat

The zesty Zengarra Zingers will sing Andrew Lloyd Webber’s music from Joseph and the Amazing Technicolour Dreamcoat. All money raised from their performances will go to local charities.
The performances are being held in Kalbar’s beautiful and historic Wiss Emporium.

Dirty Dusting

This is a live comedy about ‘over the hill’ cleaners who start ‘talking dirty’ and end up filthy rich. It stars Joan Sydney and Maggie King. Tickets are $49 for adults, $39 for pensioners and seniors and $34 for students. Group discounts available.

4th Annual Peak Pig Races & Music Muster
March 20 2010, Peak Crossing Hotel, Ipswich-Boonah Rd

The famous and much-loved Peak Pig Races and Music Muster is back for its fourth year at the Peak Crossing Hotel.
The famous Noah’s Farms racing pigs will battle it out for the championship, squealing their way to the finish line.
And on the stage you’ll see The Smokin’ Crawdads, Neil Duddy, Luella, The Bagman, Dusty Fraser, Left of Centre and the Boonah Idol winner will make a special guest appearance.
There will also be skydivers, a kids’ jumping castle, barbecue and an outside bar.
This will be heaps of fun for the family. Adults are $25, kids under 15 are free.
The fun begins at noon and continues until midnight.

He’s Alive! Moogerah Passion Play
March 27, 28, April 2 and 3 2010, from 5pm at Lake Moogerah

This annual production of the Passion of Christ – his life, death and resurrection – is staged by the local community and involves up to 100 actors, technicians and assistants. Up to 11 denominations are involved in this ecumenical event which is staged in an amazing open-air auditorium on the shores of Lake Moogerah and even features live animals.
It’s a unique outing for the whole family. Food and drink are available during the performance.

Canungra Harvest Festival
March 26-28 2010 at wineries throughout Canungra

This second annual festival celebrates all things Canungra. The fun begins Friday night and continues all weekend.
Friday 26th March 2010 - Harvest Dinner at Albert River Wines
Starts at 6.30pm, tickets cost $75 pp and include canapés on arrival, a two-course meal and roving entertainment.

Saturday 27th March 2010 – Market and Family Day at O’Reilly’s Canungra Valley Vineyards.
The Markets will feature fresh produce, cheeses, olives, handcrafts and artworks highlighting the diversity of the local community.
The Canungra RSL Fishing Club will host a Fun Fishing Experience, raising awareness of the native and noxious species of fish we have in our beautiful Canungra Creek. Visitors will have the opportunity to try and hook a fish on the day.

Sunday 28th March 2010 – Canungra’s Got Talent at the Sarabah Estate Vineyard & Winery
Sarabah Estate Vineyard & Winery will host a Talent Quest with three categories, Vocals, Vocals and Instrument, and Instrument.
Entry cost is $10, and prizes will be awarded. There will be a special buffet lunch for everyone to try contemporary Canungra cuisine, cost is $40 pp and bookings are essential.

Stars of the Future Gala Dinner
Saturday March 27 2010, Boonah Cultural Centre, High St Boonah

The Boonah & District Cultural Foundation has gone Italian.
Don’t miss the Foundation’s annual Stars of the Future Gala Dinner, which raises money for cultural and artistic development in the region.
Scenic Rim foodies, Desley and Pietro Agnoletto of Classi di Cucina Italiana, will serve a beautiful Italian meal to guests who are assured a great night of entertainment.
Live entertainment will be provided by Brisbane-based Italian singer Rosanna Napur ahead of the main event – a lively charity auction which always produces great laughs.
Tickets are $60 ($55 for Friends of the Foundation) and includes a glass of champagne, three-course meal and entertainment. Tickets are available from The Cultural Centre in Boonah. The event begins at 7pm.
