My Black Heart EXHIBITION EXPLORES JOURNEY OF LIFE

My Black Heart
March 2 to April 24 2010, The Centre, Brisbane St, Beaudesert

This collaboration by Cal MacKinnon, Sally MacKinnon and Robyn Stewart features photographs, poetry and fibre works which describe the journey of these three women into family and place and of coming home to simplicity, love and complexity.
This exhibition expresses our intention to more deeply and openly connect with the ancient land and its traditional custodians in this Yugambeh language region.

Ritzy Sisters MARGY AND SUSANNAH ARE THE RITZY SISTERS

Boonah Girl Guides Association Biennial Quilt Show QUILTS RAISE MONEY FOR BOONAH GUIDES

Boonah Girl Guides Association Biennial Quilt Show
March 11-14 2010, Boonah & District Cultural Centre, High St, Boonah

This is a much-anticipated event in the Scenic Rim. Quilters from near and far gather to display their intricate and beautifully coloured works of art.
The precision and detail involved in the quilts is astounding and will impress. More than 100 hand-made quilts will be displayed during the show, which is celebrating the centenary of the Girl Guides movement.
Light refreshments are on sale throughout the day and a number of stalls selling craft and art items will also operate.
Entry is $5 and doors are open from 10am to 3pm each day.

Boonah Rodeo ACTION AND ADVENTURE AT BOONAH RODEO

4th Annual Peak Pig Races & Music Muster

The famous and much-loved Peak Pig Races and Music Muster is back for its fourth year at the Peak Crossing Hotel.
The famous Noah’s Farms racing pigs will battle it out for the championship, squealing their way to the finish line.
And on the stage you’ll see The Smokin’ Crawdads, Neil Duddy, Luella, The Bagman, Dusty Fraser, Left of Centre and the Boonah Idol winner will make a special guest appearance.
There will also be skydivers, a kids’ jumping castle, barbecue and an outside bar.
This will be heaps of fun for the family. Adults are $25, kids under 15 are free.
The fun begins at noon and continues until midnight.

He’s Alive! Moogerah Passion PASSION PLAY HERALDS IN EASTER

He’s Alive! Moogerah Passion Play
March 27, 28, April 2 and 3 2010, from 5pm at Lake Moogerah

This annual production of the Passion of Christ – his life, death and resurrection – is staged by the local community and involves up to 100 actors, technicians and assistants. Up to 11 denominations are involved in this ecumenical event which is staged in an amazing open-air auditorium on the shores of Lake Moogerah and even features live animals.
It’s a unique outing for the whole family. Food and drink are available during the performance.

The Boonah & District Cultural Foundation has gone Italian.
Don’t miss the Foundation’s annual Stars of the Future Gala Dinner, which raises money for cultural and artistic development in the region.
Scenic Rim foodies, Desley and Pietro Agnoletto of Classi di Cucina Italiana, will serve a beautiful Italian meal to guests who are assured a great night of entertainment.
Live entertainment will be provided by Brisbane-based Italian singer Rosanna Napur ahead of the main event – a lively charity auction which always produces great laughs.
Tickets are $60 ($55 for Friends of the Foundation) and includes a glass of champagne, three-course meal and entertainment. Tickets are available from The Cultural Centre in Boonah. The event begins at 7pm.
