A MOVING PERFORMANCE
The Well

The Well is presented by the Goat Track Theatre Company, which is committed to the creation of original theatrical works with young people for young people. The Well is a play about ‘community fear’ and the terrible places it can take us when it is unchecked by reason and compassion. The Well touches on real community issues and is very powerful for the audience.

A SPORTING SPECTACLE
Paragliding Cup Championships

The Scenic Rim Leisure Show
15- 17 October, Beaudesert Showgrounds
This event is ideal for the outdoors explorer. Come along for three days of leisure activities including caravanning, camping, boating, fishing, 4-wheel driving, dirt biking, rock climbing, abseiling, canoeing, trail riding, mountain biking and more. Exhibits include live fishing demonstrations, a 4WD training track and motorbike riding demonstrations. There’s also Motorhomes, 5th wheelers, Caravans, Campers, Boats and off-road bikes on display.

ORCHIDS IN BLOOM
Boonah Orchid Show and Sarcholius Festival
16- 17 October, Macquarie Street, Boonah High School
This show features hundreds of orchids from up to 40 exhibitors. Orchids will be offered for sale so you can create your own orchid garden at home. Doors open on Saturday from 9am to 4pm and Sunday from 9am to 2pm Sunday. Entry is $3.

CELEBRATING LOCAL HISTORY
Dairy Heritage Day
23 October, Brisbane Street, Beaudesert Museum
The historical society of Beaudesert will hold its annual Dairy Heritage Day to celebrate the dairy industry’s contribution to the Scenic Rim area. In days gone by, there were more than 500 dairy farms in the region, and the numbers have gradually dwindled to about 12 farms today. Dairy Heritage Day will include displays of old equipment and dairy memorabilia and a butter-making demonstration.

A FUN FAMILY DAY OUT
Kalbar Country Day
30 October, Kalbar Showgrounds
The Kalbar Country Day is here again and this year the day will have a major make- over with a new theme and a host of new activities. This year’s theme is a hay festival and activities and entertainment include pumpkin rolling, the Kalbar Kapers, country bands, fashion parades, rides for the children and more than 60 market stalls. The hay sculpture competition is a major part of the event with a major prize of $500 being offered for the best hay sculpture. You can see them around Kalbar in the lead-up to the day. Bring the family, entry is free. Gates are open from 8.30am to 2pm.
