Anita’s calico vision splendid

Wednesday, September 14th, 2011

WHEN high school drama and dance teacher, Anita Doncaster, moved to a small country town she expected to find students who had a limited interest and knowledge of the arts.
Five years on, the Boonah High school teacher realises how wrong she was.
Mrs Doncaster directed and choreographed the IGA Boonah Arts Festival’s Calico on the Catwalk show, which received rave reviews from the packed audience. Read all about the Arts Festival here.

Arts Festival just keeps on growing

Wednesday, September 14th, 2011

The Boonah IGA Arts Festival has come to close for another year and what a festival it was.

Festival Director, Wilson Neuendorf, says in some ways the festival is a celebration of the changing and growing local community.

Music, fashion, performance and more

Wednesday, August 31st, 2011

THE Boonah IGA Arts Festival starts on Saturday September 2 and culminates in the hugely-popular Jazz in the Scenic Rim on September 11.
The annual festival offers something for young and old and showcases the very talented residents who call the Scenic Rim home.
This year’s theme is Fear or Fantasy and the 2011 festival features a number of new events and categories.
Festival President, Wilson Neuendorf, says the event is about encouraging as many people as possible to experience the joy of a cultural activity.
Mr Neuendorf says each year the festival is changed slightly in response to feedback. And that’s why this year there’s a new event on the program – Taking it to the Streets. On Saturday musicians, artists and performers will take the Festival out among shoppers along the High Street, offering free entertainment and fun. The Art Award entries will also be open for viewing at the Cultural Centre on Saturday morning. (more…)
