The Scenic Rim has been in the news over the past couple of months – for all the right reasons.
The region has received fantastic exposure in regional, state and national media publications.
The stories have highlighted the region, Scenic Rim tourism operators and some of our major events.
The June/July edition of national travel publication, Australian Traveller, carries two articles which feature the Scenic Rim. One is about 20 Short Breaks and another is about destinations that are ‘off the beaten track.’
To capitalise on this publicity, the Scenic Rim Regional Council invited local tourism operators to be involved in an advertisement, which directed readers to more than 30 special offers available through the Visit Scenic Rim website.
You too can take advantage of these offers. Find them here
The very popular Channel Seven Great South East television program has been filming in the region too.
It recently featured Mt Barney Lodge, in a story which highlighted the campervan-friendly status achieved by this property. The story is a precursor to the major Campervan and Motorhome (CMCA) rally to be held in the region later in October, which is expected to attract up to 1500 caravan and motorhome enthusiasts.
The Council has been working with the CMCA’s publication, The Wanderer, to include a feature about the region in every monthly edition. This promotion will continue right up to October.
The Courier Mail newspaper has also continued its support of the Scenic Rim, through a number of features about local operators and attractions.
Recent articles have featured Glamping in the Scenic Rim, the A World Apart Food Festival, the Studios of the Scenic Rim initiative, Eat Local Week activities and Binna Burra Mountain Lodge’s new Sky Lodges. You can find some of these articles online at www.couriermail.com.au in the LIFE section.
The Sky Lodges were also featured on the Mamamia website, the Highlife Downs Magazine, the Brisbane News and in the Gold Coast Bulletin’s Paradise Magazine.
The Smart Farmer Magazine recently ran a double-paged spread on a number of Scenic Rim tourist attractions. This coverage was the result of a Council-organised familiarisation tour.
Channel Seven’s breakfast show, Sunrise, travelled to Tamborine Mountain recently to record a live morning weather segment from the mountain. A number of other national and international TV programs have also filmed in the area recently and two feature films are filming parts of their movies in the Scenic Rim at the moment.
But our media profile isn’t limited to Australia. Ketchup’s Bank Glamping recently received a mention in the Czech Republic, as a result of a story and images submitted by operator Leona Taylor.
All of this activity is very important to the region and to the tourism industry. It helps to keep the Scenic Rim name and attractions in front of our potential visitors.
