Step inside studios of the Scenic Rim’s most creative

The Scenic Rim is home to a rich pool of artists and creative people and Studios of the Scenic Rim provides visitors with the opportunity to step inside the workspaces of the local creative community and see them at work.
In May and September each year artists throughout these communities open their studios to the public or work from one of the region’s popular tourist spots as an artist in residence.
The artists have been selected by a panel of industry leaders, chosen for the experience they can offer visitors.
The September Studio programme begins on the 4th and 5th at Binna Burra Mountain Lodge with wilderness photographer Sharon Louise.
September 10 and 11 is Murri Arts @ The Centre in Beaudesert and September 18-19 involves studios in Boonah and Mt Barney.
The final weekend of September 25 and 26 will feature artists and collectives across Tamborine Mountain.
The Studio Trail was first conceived in 1996 when visiting American artist Jerry Cook spoke at the Tamborine Mountain Festival of Arts about the Hawaiian studio trails. The idea caught the imagination of local artists and has evolved from there.
The Scenic Rim Regional Council now works with the local arts community to further develop the studio trails concept, which has grown from a weekend event to a month-long event.
No studio is more than 90 minutes from Brisbane or the Gold Coast and some are much closer.
Most of the artists will have works available for sale and are also available to work on commissioned pieces. Some Open Studios include workshops which must be booked in advance.
Maps and information booklets are available from the region’s Visitor Information centres, or email thecentre@scenicrim.qld.govau
All participating artists are now profiled on Visit Scenic Rim.
